In order to label and track thousands of Space Shuttle heat shielding tiles that must withstand the rigors of repeated space travel, space researchers developed a high data density, two-dimensional, machine-readable symbol technology.  This novel method of labeling products with invisible and virtually indestructible markings can now be used on electronic parts, pharmaceuticals, livestock, and in fact, most anything.
